Well holy crap, I’m in a group show here in Portland! Just in case you’re here in Oregon and would love to see my work live, click the link for more information.

I’m-a real artist, guys. WHAT?!

Home away from Home.

Day 13 of 365

I got the opportunity to photograph part of the Portland Old-Time Music Gathering this Friday and it was pretty amazing. I’ll post photos from the event soon (and the Scottish Rite Center, where it was held), but here is my outfit from the night.

Dress: T Tahari Cleo Dress

Stockings (not pictured): Nordstrom Back Seam Stockings

Necklace: Fuego

Earrings: H&M

Lip Pencil: Belle de Jour by Nars Cosmetics

Blush & Bronzer: Orgasm/Laguna by Nars Cosmetics

Side note: I got stood up on Friday night and planned on staying in with a bottle of gin and a season of How I Met Your Mother. After an hour of wallowing in my own bullshit, I put on this new dress, made up my hair and went out to photograph this Music Gathering. Then I went out with two of my best Portland friends (whom I worked with back in college) and we spent the rest of the night having a wonderful time.

One thing I’ve learned since 2012 has started? Always have a back-up plan - sometimes, they’re even better than the night you actually had planned!

Day 9 of 365.

Is it just me or do I look a little plastic in this photo? I don’t think of myself as someone who wears a lot of make up, but I guess I do on occasion. It’s just so much fun, I can’t image not waking up and putting it on every day.

Also, unfortunate side effect of using strobes - hello see through shirt! Whoops!

Day 7 of 365.

Not quite sure why I like this photo, but I kind of do. More self portraits to come, plus a few with some bad ass outfits!

:)

Day 6 of my 365 days project.

Day 5 of 365.

So I started a 365 days project where I have to take a self portrait of myself everyday for an entire year. I’ve done it once before, successfully, but failed in 2011. I’ve started out a little slow, mainly because my college roommate Cecily was visiting from Boston. We spent the entire week she was here partying like a rockstars, so I kept myself pretty busy. Yesterday she left, so today was my first fully free-to-myself day in a while.

The plan for this morning was to go out shooting with the boys, but Sam’s apparently pretty sick, so it ended up not happening. Instead of moping around the house (which was my original plan, complete with a store-bought cheesecake and a line up of John Hughes movies), I slept in and spent the afternoon taking photos. My first plan was to wander around southeast Portland, but I ended up in the exact same place the boys and I go target shooting. Thankfully, after hiking up a pretty big ass hill, I hit it right around sunset and got some pretty stunning photos.

It was a happy, happy day - I got some great time to myself, finally got my tripod out of the basement, tested out a new driving playlist, caught up with my first 4 days of my 365 and now I get to hunker down with the aforementioned cheesecake and Pretty In Pink. HANDLED.

Also, thought I should post this weird little accident from today - I forgot to change the mode on my camera (it was still on aperture-priority instead of manual!) and this photo came out.

I think I like it. Glasses for the win!
